PAPER PLAINE surfaces fresh academic research from Cornell University's arXiv database and explains it in plain English. Twice each day, a minimum of 6 new papers from the last 30 days are automatically fetched across nine subject areas: AI, Computer Science, Physics, Mathematics, Biology, Finance, Statistics, Engineering, and Economics.
Before any paper reaches the site, it passes through a series of quality filters. Only first-version submissions are considered (revisions are excluded). Abstracts must fall within a normal length range, and papers are scored for positive signals: venue acceptance (NeurIPS, ICML, Nature, PNAS, and others), cross-disciplinary listings, and appropriate page counts. The highest-scoring papers per category each run are the ones that are posted.
The layman's term paper subtitles, the two-to-three sentence Summary, and the Why It Matters section are generated by Claude, Anthropic's AI. The site was built and is maintained using Claude Code and is hosted on Vercel.
