The researchers built a training dataset of 500,000 images with precise color labels and invented a method that uses pure-color reference images during early training stages, then switches to real photos for refinement, improving color accuracy by 85% on generation tasks and 28% on editing.
Professional designers and creative tools need precise color control to match brand guidelines, product specifications, or client requirements. Current AI image generators produce colors that are close but not exact—a car might be the right shade of red, but not the specific red a manufacturer needs. Paint-Anything solves this by letting users input exact hex values and actually get those colors, making AI tools usable for real design work instead of just creative exploration.
