AI models that adjust their creativity based on what the conversation needs

Large language models typically use a single fixed setting to control how random or predictable their outputs are, but a new framework called Scenario-Actor instead reads the social context of a conversation and adjusts this setting accordingly. Tests on an 8-billion-parameter model show it performs better at completing goals in social interactions, following open-ended instructions, and maintaining multi-turn conversations compared to existing methods.

Current AI assistants often sound the same whether they're helping you brainstorm creative ideas or answering factual questions—both situations call for different levels of unpredictability. By tuning this setting to match what's actually happening in a conversation, AI responses could become more useful and natural without requiring users to manually fiddle with settings themselves.
